2022 Reading Challenge

This is just a quick post to update anyone who’s interested on the changes to this year’s reading challenge, because I intend to make quite a few. Last year I ended up reading well above the one book a week that I set out to, but I really want to focus on reading new books this year rather than just quickly re-reading books I’ve already read and enjoyed. This doesn’t mean I won’t re-read anything, I enjoy long-running series and I believe re-reading preceding books before or after a new entry enhances the reading experience, and I won’t rob myself of that.

I still hope to read a book a week, but I want the variety of books to be a greater focus. I’ve read barely any non-fiction and poetry since I started tracking my reading, and I’d like to get back to that. Additionally, I’d like to read my backlog of books that I have purchased, and left unread due to other focuses. I prefer to read multiple books at a time, and that’s something I’ve also been doing less since I started tracking and reviewing books, so I’d like to see if that’s still something I enjoy, or just a natural change in my reading habits.

Ultimately, this reading challenge is out of interest, and for fun, to see if there are any patterns in m reading behaviour. If anyone reading this is undertaking a reading challenge this year, I’d love to hear about it.
